The Design Process and Procedures for Design Requests

  1. Call University Marketing design staff (Sywan Shih x 5034) to schedule an appointment to discuss your project.
  2. At the initial meeting with University Marketing, please bring any text, photos and graphics you want to use and be ready to discuss needs for additional text and photography.
  3. If there is text submitted for review, editors will need about two weeks to edit smaller projects such as brochures and newsletters for unity, coherency, grammar, spelling, and consistency with university style. Larger projects, such as magazines, and others that necessitate original writing, require a lengthier editing process.
  4. The design phase takes two to three weeks for most projects, and longer for magazines and other large projects. During the design stage, graphic designers create layouts consistent with university standards and will provide proof reviews so clients can double check facts, spelling, numbers and contact information.
  5. The final step is printing, which takes two weeks. Ten working days is the standard time needed for printing, regardless of where the publication is printed.

Note: Meeting deadlines depends on staying within the process time-frame. Making major content additions and revisions during the design stage will delay production.
